INDOT Public Hearing on US41
Proposed improvements between Johnson Ave. and Davis Ave.
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will hold a
public hearing on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 6:00p.m. in the Community
Room (E-100) located at Ivy Tech Community College, 8000 South
Education Drive, Terre Haute, Indiana.
The purpose of this public hearing is to offer all interested
persons an opportunity to comment on current design plans for the
proposed U.S. 41 auxiliary lanes, approximately 0.5 mile south of I-70
at Johnson Avenue, to 0.3 mile south of I-70 at Davis Avenue, with
proposed intersection improvements at Davis Avenue and Honey Creek
Parkway, located in Terre Haute, Vigo County. The total project
length is approximately 0.4 mile.
The proposed project will include a third southbound through lane from
Johnson Avenue to Davis Avenue with all lanes being 11 feet wide and
shoulders that will vary from three to five feet. The existing
pavement will be removed and resurfaced on both the north and
southbound lanes. The exiting median will be replaced with a four
foot curbed median. Storm sewer inlets will also be added at the
new curbed median and minor modifications made to the existing storm
sewer north of Davis Avenue. The open ditches south of Davis
Avenue will not be impacted by this project and there will be no change
in the existing drainage patterns. Additional project design
detail will be presented during the public hearing.
A copy of the environmental document and preliminary design plans are
