Terre Haute Wastewater Utility Earns State Safety Award

The Terre Haute Wastewater Utility has for the 3rd year in a row earned the Indiana Water Environment Association's Safety Award.  This award is presented each year to Indiana wastewater plants that receive a 95% or greater rating on a voluntary plant safety inspection.  In this inspection, not only does the plant have to comply with all OSHA safety regulations, but also the training aspect of the safety program must be in place and well documented.  All facilities earning this honor must conduct regular monthly safety training for all of their employees, keep accurate accident and injury logs, and present a facility that provides a safe and relatively hazard-free environment for the workforce.  Our Safety Coordinator, John Shields, known to everyone as Safety John has been diligent to provide safety classes that are pertinant to wastewater, and are IDEM certified for Continuing Educational Units for all of our licensed Operators.  We would like to thank our employees, as we call them:  Team Safety, for a job well done.  It is the efforts of all of us working together that have earned this coveted safety award, and we as the management staff wish to thank each and every member of the team for making safety his/her number one priority.
