Job Description:

The Automation and IT Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of automation systems at the wastewater treatment plant. This role ensures the efficient and reliable operation of all automated processes and IT systems contributing to the overall effectiveness of the plant's operations.

 

•Automation Systems Management:

  • Design, program, and maintain PLC (Programmable Logic Controller)
  • Support SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for monitoring and controlling plant operations.

o· Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automation systems to minimize downtime.

  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of automation equipment.
  • Provide technical support and training to plant staff on Automation systems and software.

 

•IT Infrastructure Management:

  • Works with both Systems Administration and Technical Support Specialists staff in support of IT hardware and software.
  • Ensure cybersecurity measures are in place and up to

•Data Management and Reporting:

  • Collect and analyze data from automation systems to optimize plant
  • Generate reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

•Helpdesk Support:

  • Process helpdesk requests for Waste-Water incidents and when time is
  • available provide general IT support to the City of Terre Haute.
  • Understand the difference between incidents versus problems and determining appropriate steps to

•Project Management:

  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for the conversion of the PLC
  • Lead and manage automation projects from conception to
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality

 

•Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

•Experience:

a Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in automation and IT systems, preferably in a wastewater treatment or similar industrial environment.
