Position: Street Maintenance Worker II

Position Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

  • Maintains daily work sheets of assigned tasks.
  • Performs necessary pavement patching, storm clean up, snow removal, weed eating and any other task assigned by Foreman.
  • Maintains a presentable appearance.
  • Must be available in case of emergencies such as snowfall and/or storm conditions.
  • Responsible for responding to Police and Fire emergencies when requested.
  • Reports equipment malfunction to supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Must work well with other employees.
  • Must be able to work well with the public we serve.
  • Must have experience using chainsaws, pole saws, weed eaters and backpack leaf blowers.
  • Must have a basic understanding of workplace safety and the proper use of safety equipment required in a municipal public works setting. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants with a valid “Class B” Commercial Driver’s License are preferred. Highly qualified applicants without a valid “Class B” Commercial Driver’s License must be able to obtain the license within 90 days of date of hire if selected for a position.
  • Education/Training: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience: 3 years’ experience working in a public works department, in the construction industry, in the agricultural field or similar environment.
  • Working Conditions: Must be able to work outside in every weather condition including extreme summer heat and extreme winter cold.

  • May require extended periods of standing and/or walking.
  • May require pulling and/or pushing items, lifting and carrying items, stooping, and kneeling.

May occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
